A Classic Drink with a Holiday Twist  –  Peppermint White Russian

As the holiday lights twinkle and the weather turns truly chilly, it’s time to embrace cozy, decadent flavors. This Peppermint White Russian has all the festive feel and is a perfect nightcap, a stunning dessert drink, and the star of any holiday happy hour, all wrapped into one.

This isn’t your standard White Russian. We’ve given the classic a festive makeover by swapping in peppermint vodka, which pairs beautifully with the rich coffee liqueur. A slow-poured float of heavy cream and a sparkling, crushed-candy-cane rim make this drink as beautiful to look at as it is delicious to sip. It’s the perfect signature cocktail for a tree-trimming party, a quiet evening by the fire, or to serve after a big holiday feast.

Peppermint White Russian Recipe

Peppermint White Russian drink

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz. Peppermint Vodka
  • 1 oz. Kahlua (or other coffee liqueur)
  • 3 oz. Heavy Cream
  • For the Garnish: Crushed Candy Canes

Instructions:

  1. Rim: Pour a thin layer of honey or simple syrup onto a small plate and your crushed candy canes onto another. Dip the rim of a rocks glass first into the syrup, then gently press it into the candy canes.
  2. Combine: Fill the rimmed glass with ice. Add the Peppermint Vodka and Kahlua.
  3. Spoon: Gently and slowly pour the heavy cream over the back of a spoon. This will create the signature “float” layer on top of the drink.
  4. Serve: Serve immediately while chilled and layered.

Creamy Peppermint Mocktail

This non-alcoholic version delivers all the creamy, minty, and festive cheer.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Chilled Strong-Brewed Coffee (or Espresso)
  • 1 oz. Peppermint Syrup
  • 3 oz. Heavy Cream
  • For the Garnish: Crushed Candy Canes

Instructions:

  1. Rim: Prep your rocks glass just like the cocktail version, rimming it with crushed candy canes.
  2. Combine: Fill the glass with ice. Add the chilled coffee and peppermint syrup. Stir well to combine.
  3. Spoon: Gently float the heavy cream over the back of a spoon to create the layered effect.
  4. Serve: Garnish with an extra sprinkle of crushed candy cane on top, if desired.
