Three years ago, we teamed up with Doorways for Women and Families of Arlington for a fun event to raise awareness and a bit of money. We invited all of you to the patio at Rocklands Arlington, and asked you to bring non-perishable food items and/or good old coats that someone could still use. And since it was on a Thursday — traditional night of Doggy Yappy Hour, where dogs and their people eat and drink together on the patio — we reminded people to bring their dogs too.
It is such a fun event that we just keep doing it.
This year, “Shed Your Coat” will be at Rocklands Arlington on Thursday, April 14, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Doorways will be there, with information and their own great team. Susan Anderson, formerly of the Clarendon Alliance, has agreed to guest bartend again (have you HAD one of her adult beverages?!). And to top it off, we’ll have a 98-pound pig, roasted and ready to carve up into tasty sandwiches.*
Hope to see you there!
*Since this IS a fundraiser, we’re suggesting a donation of $5 for those sandwiches and encouraging you to be wildly generous in tipping your bartender. Non-perishable food and cash donations will go to Doorways for Women and Families; coats will go to St. Luke’s.
