We always think “picnic” at this time of year, even if it’s just eating your sandwich out on the stoop. When it’s nice enough to be outside, it’s too nice to NOT be out there (if you get our drift).
The Washingtonian’s June issue had a great reminder — or intro list — of places to picnic in and around DC. We can all come up with the Mall, or Georgetown’s Montrose Park. This list was a just-enough-in-depth look at nine picnic places that really shine. National Arboretum. Wheaton Regional Park. Hillwood Estate. Meridian Hill Park.
What to take? A blanket and a Crazy Creek chair, beverages, food or snacks. Your copy of “Go Set a Watchman.” A big floppy hat. Friends, two- or four-legged.
We’re the people on the spiffy picnic roll* under the shady tree.
(*Thanks to the fabulous Purl Bee for the picnic roll picture and idea. You too can make this easy, portable blankie!)
