Only three more days until we serve our special sausage made from prize-winning Frederick County Fair pigs. These sausages, made from the entire pig, include all the fancy parts (what normally ends up as bacon and ham, for example). Every year the sausage tastes slightly different, depending on the breed of pig and the seasonings. And every year this sausage tastes DELICIOUS.
This year’s sausages were made with two prize-winning 4H pigs, raised with love and great care by teenage farmers Nikita Miller and Clay Yingling. These happy animals weighed a combined total of 519 lbs.
On October 20, we will celebrate local farms and farmers as we serve the Big Pig Sausages. The sausages will be served nicely plain, so you can fix ‘em up at our Schlop Bar. On the bar you’ll find pickles, onions, relishes, sauces — everything you like to pile on a sausage.
Come celebrate the fall harvest and local farmers at Big Pig Sausage Day, all day October 20 at your favorite Rocklands.
