We had 11 deliciously hot entries in last week’s inaugural Rocklands Hot Sauce contest. Our judges tasted and tasted, and discussed seriously, and came up with first and second place prize winners. First place went to Thai Chili Sauce, and second place went to African Heat — two different continents represented on the winners’ stand! (Great quote from our second-place winner: “Size does not matter.”)
Who really won? All of us, because the proceeds of the evening went to Wounded Warrior Project. It’s hard to read this check, but it says $1,400 — that’s what you all helped us raise for this good cause.
For those of you who did not make it, this event was the perfect four: A whole barbequed pig with sides, endless keg of beer, great raffle prizes and the chance to try 11 stellar homemade hot sauces, all for $20. Oh, and it was a gorgeous late-summer evening, too. So we’ll see you next year, right? Keep eating the hot stuff, and thanks for a great 2014 Hot Sauce Contest and pig roast.
